2nd Annual Big Apple Film Festival

A celebration of cultural diversity on the silver screen

As New York City is synonymous with cultural diversity, the Big Apple Film Festival was established to celebrate the city's multi-culturalism. The purpose of the festival is to recognize films and filmmakers that seek to focus their attention on the unique qualities of individuals of all backgrounds and ethnicities. Previous film's have included: "Citizen King", a unique look into the life of Martin Luther King, "About Baghdad", a poignant look at the response of common Iraqi citizens following war and occupation and "Intervention", a gripping drama about the trials and tribulations of an Italian-American family.

The 2nd Annual Big Apple Film Festival and screenplay competition sponsored by IFP/NY and Filmmaker Magazine, will take place November 17-19, 2005 at the Anthology Film Archives in New York City. The festival will include film screenings, panel discussions, networking events and an awards ceremony.  Submissions are currently being accepted in all genres and lengths.

ALL FILMMAKERS WHO ENTER A FILM WILL RECEIVE A FREE SUBSCRIPTION TO FILMMAKER MAGAZINE, WHETHER THE FILM IS ACCEPTED OR NOT. ALL FILMMAKERS WHO ARE INVITED TO SCREEN WILL ALSO RECEIVE A FREE INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP TO IFP.

This year's festival will be giving out 14 film awards and 3 screenplay awards.  In addition, titles of award winning films and filmmakers will be included in an awards listing in a film industry trade publication and the filmmakers will receive an engraved plaque. All accepted filmmakers will receive a VIP pass for the entire festival.

THE THREE TOP SCREENPLAY WINNERS WILL BE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO RECEIVE A FREE PROFESSIONAL SCREENPLAY CONSULTATION FROM AN INDUSTRY PROFESSIONAL, as well as receiving VIP passes to the entire festival, a listing in a film industry trade publication and an engraved plaque.
